CNC Machinist/Machine Operator – Afternoon Shift

Due to an increase in Production David W. Wilson Manufacturing Ltd. requires General Machinists and/or CNC machine operators for a custom/production machine shop.

Position Description:

  • Duties include operation of a variety of CNC controlled equipment including vertical and or horizontal machine centers as well as manual power tools
  • Ability to understand and operate numerically controlled machines
  • Ability to perform precision machining operations
  • Must be able to read and interpret blueprints and execute the final product as required then verify dimensions of part machined using precise measuring instruments (micrometer, caliper, bore gauge)
  • Full inspection and deburring of completed parts
  • Inspect raw materials and finished product to meet specification
  • Use of power hand tools (drill press, angle grinder, belt sander)
  • Produce precision machined parts to specified tolerances
  • Can operate machine shop power tools including manual equipment
  • Capable of following verbal and written instructions
  • Afternoon shift hours are 4:15pm – 2:15am Monday to Thursday (38 hour work week)

Qualifications:

  • Machinist Certificate of Qualification and experience with Daewoo, Okuma & Fanuc controls is a definite asset
  • 2 – 5 years working experience in a metal manufacturing/machining environment
  • Knowledge of cutting tools and tool wear (carbide, high speed steel, boring bar, indexable, tapered shank)
  • Able to use measuring instruments such as micrometers, calipers and bore gauges
  • Ability to read dimensions, tolerances and specifications from supplied drawing in both metric and imperial measurements
  • Can follow written and verbal instructions and safely operate machines at all times
  • Ability to troubleshoot and problem solve effectively and efficiently
  • Ability to work closely with fellow team members and also individually as required
  • Must demonstrate quality and attention to work details along with excellent organizational skills and cleanliness
  • Shows exceptional people skills with a ‘can do’ attitude
  • Has excellent attention to details along with great physical and mental capacity

Requirements:

  • Ability to read and follow work instructions and safety rules and be able to work in a fast-paced environment.
  • A valid driver’s license or transportation required, as we are located in Cathcart ON, 10 minutes East of Woodstock and 10 minutes West of Burford, and not on a bus route.

Brake Press Operator – Night Shift

Position/Duties Description:

  • Successful candidate will participate in the operation of bending and shaping metal parts in our manufacturing plant on our Brake Press.
  • Comfortable with reading and interpreting blueprints and executing the final product as required.
  • Ensure all safety controls are in place.
  • Safely load and unload machine.
  • Capable of using other precision tools such as; caliper, measuring tape, height gauges, form gauges and templates.
  • Must practice safe lifting and work procedures at all times.
  • Participate in Company 5S program by maintaining workstation cleanliness.
  • Assist in other duties as required.
  • Continuous standing for extended periods of time.
  • Some heavy lifting, carrying and handling of objects; able to lift up to and including 50 lbs.
  • Regular use of hands, wrists, arms, shoulders, bending/stretching, stooping, reaching, twisting, lifting, walking, pushing/pulling.
  •  Repetitive motion and other job specific requirements..
  • This is a night shift position (Monday – Thursday 4:15 pm to 2:15 pm) (38 hour work week).
  • Assist in other duties as required; able to work with other team members and also individually.

 Qualifications:

 Minimum of 2 – 4 years of experience in a brake press/manufacturing environment.

  • Must have good math skills.
  • Able to follow verbal instructions.
  • Must demonstrate quality and attention to work details.
  • Can follow written and verbal instructions.
  • Shows exceptional people skills with a ‘can do’ attitude.
  • Has excellent attention to details along with great physical and mental capacity.
