Position Description:

  • Successful candidate will participate in part deburring (including grinding) and packaging operations, as well as operate cut-off and bandsaws as well as unloading pallets for the laser
  • Assembly & housekeeping tasks as required
  • There will also be other manufacturing duties as required

Qualifications:

  • 6 – 12 months experience in a manufacturing environment is an asset
  • You need to have very good attendance and a desire to learn
  • An ability to read basic blueprints; use vernier calipers, tape measure and a measuring square would be an asset but not essential
  • Basic math skills are required
  • Must have high attention to details, immediate deadlines and able to follow written and verbal instructions
  • Ability to work effectively in a team environment or individually
  • Good physical capability and a “can do” attitude is a definite asset
  • Must be able to show proof of Grade 12 diploma

Work Conditions:

This is a physical position that requires:

  • Continuous standing for extended periods of time
  • Some heavy lifting, carrying and handling of objects.
  • Regular use of hands, wrists, arms, shoulders, bending/stretching, stooping, reaching, twisting, lifting, walking, pushing/pulling
  • Repetitive motion and other job specific requirements
  • Precise hand/finger movements
  • Physical Environment:  Regular exposure to factors such as temperature fluctuations, moving machinery, loud noise, and dusty environments.
  • Sensory Attention:  Need to give close attention with hearing or seeing to work surroundings.  Must be able to handle exposure to different smells that may occur in the workplace.
  • Must be able to wear prescribed PPE that the company requires safety glasses, hearing protection, work boots/shoes and respiratory protection (depending upon job) etc.

Position/Duties Description:

  • Successful candidate will be responsible for setting up various jobs on multiple machines in our forming department for our brake press operators; assist workers in reaching production goals
  • This includes, but is not limited to, gathering proper tooling, loading the programs into the controls and establishing a first off
  • Assist current lead hand with addressing production schedule requirements
  • Participate in the operation of various brake presses
  • Comfortable with reading and interpreting blueprints and executing the final product as required, follow verbal instructions
  • Ensure all safety controls are in place; safely load and unload machine throughout the shift
  • Capable of using other precision tools such as; caliper, measuring tape, height gauges, form gauges and templates; ability to run overhead/jib crane
  • Must practice safe lifting and work procedures at all times
  • Participate in Company 5S program by maintaining workstation cleanliness
  • Assist in other duties as required
  • This is a day shift position (Monday – Thursday 6:00am – 4:30am) (40 hour work week)

Qualifications:

 Minimum of 5 years’ experience in a brake press operation/manufacturing environment is required

  • Minimum Grade 12 or equivalent
  • Must have good math skills
  • Ability to work with fellow team members and also individually as required
  • Must demonstrate quality and attention to work details
  • Can follow written and verbal instructions
  • Shows exceptional people skills with a ‘can do’ attitude
  • Has excellent attention to details along with great physical and mental capacity

The QUALITY ASSURANCE INSPECTOR provides assistance to the Quality Manager through administrative support.  The QUALITY ASSURANCE INSPECTOR is responsible to maintain key quality metrics, the equipment calibration system and the administrative control of nonconforming product.

The QUALITY ASSURANCE INSPECTOR reports directly to the Quality Manager.  Any issues fulfilling the below stated duties must be reported to the Quality Manager and elevated to the Plant Manager in a timely manner.

Position Description:

  • Checking first off, in-process and final inspections on work being performed
  • Inspecting components from sub-vendors to ensure quality and geometrical tolerances
  • Completing in-process and final dimensional inspection reports using measurement equipment for dimensional inspections
  • Confirming results are within tolerances as they relate to blueprints/drawings
  • Understanding blueprint readings, CAD files, drawings and customer information
  • Troubleshoot quality issues as they occur, for immediate solutions
  • Participates in the calibration of gages and equipment
  • Create/maintain FAI/PPAP documentation (FAI’s, Control Plans etc)
  • Contribute in root-cause analysis, corrective actions, following up and reporting
  • Adopting a culture of quality and continuous improvement
  • Participates in continuous improvement through kaizen initiatives, 5S program
  • Participates in training events and tool box talks, as determined by the company or manager
  • Practice safe work habits in accordance to company Health and Safety procedures and the OH&S Act
  • Review and document daily scrap reports in tracking software
  • Review and provide feedback during the implementation of new product and or process
  • Other duties as assigned

Qualifications:

  • Must have prior experience in a machine shop environment as well as with measuring equipment
  • Ability to read and understand technical drawings, specifications, manufacturing plans, technical drawings, blueprint readings and quality assurance standards
  • High attention to detail and very accurate with the ability to read customer supplied and in-house Engineered drawings
  • Strong understanding of GD&T and machine shop inspection techniques
  • Able to use a variety of inspection equipment to inspect parts/gages/fixtures and determine compliance
  • Must be proficient in Microsoft Windows
  • Innovative thinker and proven problem-solver
  • Must be able to work with others or individually

The CORPORATE HEALTH & SAFETY MANAGER reports directly to the General Manager and will split their week approximately 50% at Cathcart location and 50% at Brantford location.  The incumbent is responsible for developing and implementing health and safety plans, enforcing policies, assessing risk and ensuring compliance with all applicable global, regional and local regulations.

KEY RESPONSIBILITES

  • Implement and ensure adherence to the Health and Safety program and the ISO 45001:2018 Standard
  • Conduct training, investigate incidents and provide recommendations for improvement to ensure continual safety of others; ability to identify, investigate, problem solve a resolution and then document communicated hazards and health & safety concerns, effectively
  • Must communicate and collaborate with all levels of personnel, in order to maintain the integrity of the Health & Safety program
  • Maintain health & safety best practices according to MOL & WSIB regulated standards
  • Co-chair the Joint Health & Safety Committee and coordinate all associated activities
  • Uphold the position of Certified Member of the Joint Health & Safety Committee
  • Ensure the JHSC workplace inspections and meeting minutes are documented, distributed and posted
  • Participate in monthly workplace inspections; fire alarm testing/evacuation procedures to ensure they are done efficiently and effectively in coordination with Maintenance
  • Analyze and summarize health & safety data into monthly KPI’s for visualization in Asachi meetings and presentation during management meetings
  • Develop and/or maintain current policies that are required by the company, MOL or government requirements
  • Maintain employee’s safety certifications and schedule appropriate training for employees while working with Plant Manager and Leadhand to ensure timing for the following: First Aid /CPR training, WHMIS, Lift Truck, Fall Arrest, etc.
  • Conduct the Health & Safety portion of Orientation training
  • Conduct the Health & Safety portion of on-the-job training for new employees and employees changing positions
  • Disability management – all sickness/illness and WSIB claims; develop and monitor all return to work plans; and communicate medical requirements/documentation with employees until employee returns to work in collaboration with Human Resources Manager
  • Perform job task analysis and ergonomic studies
  • Conduct hygiene tests, sound level monitoring, and heat measurements as required
  • Participate in the creation of standard work to ensure hazard awareness is incorporated
  • Represent the company contact for any Ministry of Labour visits/inspections
  • In conjunction with senior management, review the effectiveness of the health & safety program on an annual basis, and revise as required
  • Participate in continuous improvement/kaizen initiatives; 5S program by promoting work station cleanliness/organization etc.; training events with outside local groups
  • Encourage safe work practices in accordance to company Health and Safety policies and the OH&S Act.
  • Ability to think outside the box to ensure effective problem solving and decision making skills
  • Ability to provide clear communication, guide and coach team members with strong influencing skills
  • Other duties as assigned

QUALIFICATIONS/EDUCATION:

  • Completion of post-secondary in Health & Safety Management, or a minimum of 5 years previous experience in a Health & Safety Leadership role
  • Experience with the Ministry of Labour, as well as WSIB reporting and claims management
  • Certified Member of the Joint Health& Safety Committee
  • JH&SC Basic Certification training
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills with the ability to impact, lead, motivate and influence team members with a passion for safety
  • Strong sense of urgency who works well under pressure and reacts to stressful situations with professionalism
